crofthoose cushions

IMG_0559

I no longer make crofthoose cushions to sell, im keeping this page up incase anyone tries to copy them, haha! thanks for the love for them, I make them here and there mainly for the Shetland Textile Museum.

I developed my crofthoose shaped cushions in 2012 and they are the main thing that I sell, inspired by traditional crofthouses seen all over Shetland. I knit the cushions on a Silver Reed knitting machine and then sew and stuff the cushions myself. The cushions are all stuffed with Shetland Wool cushion stuffing which I get from Jamieson & Smith where I work full time. The cushions are £40  each, I post them 1st class signed for.

As I work full time each cushion is made to order, which means you have more control over colours and motifs used. I am open to anything! if you are interested please send me an email at: ella@ellagordondesigns.co.uk For some colour ideas have a look at this album on my facebook page

  1. Hello , Ella! We are writing from Boston, MA USA – we would love to order one of your cushions – how can we go about doing this?

  3. I do hope you make a Croftheid for the 2016 Shetland Wool Week hat! Whatever it turns out to be will be fun!

  4. Hi Ella,

I am headed to Shetland later this year and while I understand you are not taking on any commissions I was wondering if any of the local stores carried these beautiful cushions.

    Thanks,

    Steph

      1. I will keep a lookout for them. I noticed that place and getting to meet you is on the itinerary for the tour I am taking in September.

  5. Just finishing the crofthoose hat, my very first fair isle project! Will be there in June and am hoping to get one of your cushions and some yarn to work on the mitts to match the hat. Are you still planning on putting some at the textile museum? Rhonda

  6. Love the cushions Ella and would very much like to go on a reserve list for when you start making them again. Alternatively, are they for sale anywhere?
